About Me

We all have a country of origin and a culture that define big parts of us

Originally born in Canada, more concretely in the Province of Quebec, I lived, studied and worked the first half of my life there.

Then, right at the crossroad of year 2000, I was given a golden professional opportunity to work in Paris!  Since I did not want to miss that opportunity, I packed my belongings and headed to Europe, where I was not only about to have a tremendous work experience, but also the chance to discover and live in the Old Continent!

Once my Consultant contract in Paris finished, I thought it was time for me to invest in myself and study a little more, so I decided to go for an MBA.  Since I had always dreamed of living in Spain, that is where I finally chose my Business School.  From there, after my MBA, I started working in Spain, where I have been living till today.

That being said, I love Europe, but clearly remember the amazing country and the culture where I was born!

2001-2004 First Years in Europe

Great Banking Working Experience

My first contract in Europe was at the Head Quarters of the Bank of France, in Paris, in January 2001.   This initial contract was only meant to last 3 months, as I was there to take over a person that was on a sick leave to work on the AutoSys network service scheduler for the Bank’s IT department.

Due to the success of my first endeavors during my first months at the bank, I eventually started taking over more and more complex banking projects, including the global Citrix Metaframe and Windows Terminal Servers platforms level II support.   Subsequently, I became the go-to expert contact on these matters and was eventually appointed as the direct personal IT support contact for the Deputy Governor of the Banque de France.

From there, I started working on less technical matters, and started shifting towards my first Project Management assignments.   Thus, I started managing the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) infrastructure, including optimization of backup processes that significantly reduced service ticket requests in the network management and monitoring team.

It is during this period that I realized and understood that I had good managerial aptitudes, and it is at that moment that I decided to invest in myself to get an MBA.

2004-2005 sabbatical leave

Master of Business Administration (International-MBA)

During the years 2004 and 2005, I finally got my hands dirty and did an International-MBA at EADA, in Barcelona.

During that Masters, I had the chance to learn about all the important areas of a company, such as:

  • Corporate Finance
  • Marketing
  • Human Resources
  • Geo-Economics and Geopolitics
  • Operations Management
  • Strategic Thinking
  • And more…

This International-MBA brought me a lot of business insights, to better understand the challenges of running an entire company.

The big takeaway I got from that MBA is that a lot of people have false believes about business in general and can easily fall in the trap.   I was impressed, during that Masters, to discover how many big renowned companies had made tremendous mistakes, that even led them to disappear from the market, in some cases.

My goal, with this MBA, was to make sure I would learn and get the most important tools to stand out and make a real difference, in the business world.

Living and working in Spain

Mastering Spanish and Catalan Languages

B1 Catalan Certificate

Obtained in 2006

In 2006 I obtained the B1 Certification, from the Generalitat de Catalunia, for the Catalan language.

In 2019, after 15 years for residency in Spain, I decided to start working on the Spanish Nationality journey, where an important requirement was to pass the A2-Dele-Spanish exam.   I did the exam and got :  94% overall, with 100% in the oral expression and interaction part.

Therefore, it is more than safe to say that I can perfectly that I have complete control over both the Spanish and Catalan languages.

Consolidation of Experience

In 2008, I was working in a leading dental services management company serving insurance companies in Europe with a network of 3,000 dental clinics, where I Transformed the IT department, from a small back-office and support center, into a key and strategic one for the company.

The challenges in that role included, among other things :

  • The daily importation of millions of insured peoples’ data from various insurance companies to the company database (ETLs)
  • SAP ERP interconnection with other applications and services
  • Centralized Management of other branches and providers in other countries

Expert in Digital Transformation

In 2020, with a desire to expand both my IT and Managerial knowledge and experience, I settled to register to the Expert in Digital Transformation course at the LaSalle University in Barcelona.
